Ingrown hairs are very common and for those that shave or wax, they're prone to having to deal with and prevent them in the future.
Everyone can be affected by ingrown hair but those with sensitive skin are a lot more susceptible to hair bumps and skin irritation.
They can be found anywhere on the body but they're more common in areas where someone shaves, epilates or wax's their skin - such as the face, neck, legs and intimate areas.
What is an ingrown hair?
Though they might appear unsightly and sometimes uncomfortable, you're not alone in having them. Hair usually grows up and out but due to the way it's cut or the texture of the hair (fair or coarse), it can lay flat to the skin and become trapped beneath it. That's when an ingrown hair occurs and leaves bumps on your skin. Here are our top tips on how to remove ingrown hairs safely and prevent them in the future.
How to remove ingrown hairs
We'd recommend using a tool specifically designed to remove ingrown hairs over a general Tweezer. That's because Tweezers are designed to lift and pluck hairs above the skin and using Tweezers to try to spring hair from beneath it, could damage the skin and cause scarring.

Preventing ingrown hairs
Exfoliation Exfoliating is always going to be key in helping the prevention of ingrown hairs. By exfoliating, you're lightly removing the top layer of dead skin which ingrown hairs find themselves trapped beneath.
That will allow the hair to break through the skin and not grow beneath it, causing red bumps.
Sharp blades If you're shaving, ensure your blades are sharp and you're using a fresh cartridge every week is important. Blunt blades can cause hairs to be cut badly or in the wrong direction, making it easier for them to become trapped beneath the skin.
