Tweezerman Splintertweeze for Ingrown Hair and Splinter Removal

Tweezerman Splitertweeze

How to get rid of an ingrown hair with the Splintertweeze Tool

The original Tweezerman Tweezer and the first product ever launched by Tweezerman, the Splintertweeze was specially innovated for the safe and precise removal of ingrown hairs and splinters.

When it all started back in 1980 with a splinter and a bad Tweezer, the Splintertweeze was designed due to the frustration of not having a tool with the right angle of tip, to be able to remove the wood from below the surface of the skin. Before the revolutionary launch of the Tweezerman Classic Slant Tweezer in 1982, the Splintertweeze was already ensuring precise removal and is used today for ingrown hair removal by professionals and beauty enthusiasts alike.

The Ingrown Hair/Splintertweeze has tapered tips which have been hand-filed to sharp points, making removing ingrown hairs and splinters as accurately as possible, without damaging the skin or scarring.

As well as the original Splintertweeze, in recent years, we’ve innovated the G.E.A.R Ingrown Hair/Splintertweeze as part of our product range designed for Men’s Grooming, with the same precise, hand-filed tips to remove ingrown hairs that occur when regularly shaving. For men, ingrown hairs most commonly occur on the face, jawline and around the neck.

How do ingrown hairs happen?

Ingrown hairs are due to hairs that grow inwardly (often sideways) and are sometimes too fine to penetrate the skin. Sometimes, especially when shaving, the blunt tip of hair can flatten against the skin and end up penetrating it, to then go beneath the surface too. Ingrown hairs can occur anywhere on the body but are more likely to happen around areas that are shaved or waxed, so both men and women experience them, especially under arms, legs, on the face and neckline, as well as intimate areas such as the bikini line.

What types of hair is the Ingrown Hair/Splintertweeze meant to remove?

The Ingrown Hair/Splintertweeze is specifically designed to remove ingrown hairs, but is also extremely effective in anything embedded under the skin, like splinters, thorns and ingrowns.

How does the Ingrown Hair/Splintertweeze work?

It’s always important to exfoliate the area where an ingrown hair is located to remove dead skin cells and sebum from the surface. Soak the skin with a warm towel or take a hot shower or bath to soften the skin, too. When it comes to removing the ingrown hair, always ensure the hair is already poking out from beneath the skin. Don’t try to break the skin, as this will lead to scarring and could cause infection too. The Ingrown Hair/Splintertweeze pointed tip has been designed to grasp the smallest and finest of hair.

How do you prevent ingrown hairs?

Ingrown hairs are best prevented by regularly exfoliating to ensure any dead skin, sebum and dirt is removed from the skin’s surface. That stops the hair from sticking flat to the skin and penetrating it to grow sideways. However, ingrown hairs can still occur beneath the surface despite not shaving, though, even waxing can still cause ingrown hairs. However, when you see that you have one but it’s yet to poke out from the surface, continue to exfoliate twice a week until it does.
